Great Plains Software, Inc. was acquired by Microsoft in April 2001, and the silver anniversary of this renowned transaction was celebrated on the Microsoft campus in Fargo, ND earlier this month 25 years later. While only 83 of the 2,002 GPSI employees remain at on campus, there was a special celebration in the Commons building which included a message from Doug Burgum as well. Burgum was CEO of Great Plains Software at the time of Microsoft’s acquisition and now serves as United States Secretary of the Interior in Washington, DC after two terms as Governor of North Dakota.
